Missoni for Target

Can we start off by ranting about how frustrating Target.com was yesterday? I was put in a waiting line! What?! And after 20 minutes I was able to sneak in there to check all of Missoni x Target goodness, only to find that a majority was already out of stock. It was 10 in the morning. What. Oh and furthermore, I was booted back to the waiting line after five minutes of perusing the collection. Talk about pretentious. I suppose it's understandable since we're talking about the most influential prints in the fashion world and paired with the target price tag? What's not to be obsessed with?

Swoon!
Loaded with scarves, swimsuits, shorts, and housewares, there's something for everyone with this collection. I was happy to see that the quality was fairly decent and the prints were, well, still Missoni. I am obviously head over heels in love with their scarves (duh) and at $24.99 I could theoretically have them all..... right? Even if I did have the extra bank, I couldn't have indulged if I wanted to since they, like everything else, was out of stock. Lame.
This just adds to my scarf obsession.. Instant glamour.
Even though the clothes and accessories were out-of-this-world amazing, I think what really shined in this collection was the bedding and housewares. I was swooning hard over the amazing color-explosion that took the form of a quilt. A quilt! of Missoni! Sold out. Of course. Pair that with their throw pillows and I would be sleeping like a queen. Oh the things I would do for a gosh darn blanket.. I dare say I have never said that before.

Need I say more?!
It's hard for me not to indulge in all things zig-zagged and striped in a plethora of colors. But I suppose Target failing to keep it on the shelves will have to do. Sigh.

Summer is in full swing

in late August? What? Yup. Much to Seattle's frustration, the summer sun is finally out and about the way it was supposed to two months ago. But, it'd be unfair to complain about it now. So as most schools have already started their academic year, my friends and I have a solid month of vacation left. Also known as sweet, sweet bliss. So while I've been living in my denim cutoff's and DIY cut T's, I've been carefully planning out what my autumn wardrobe will look like. After all, fall is my favorite time of the year and I'm ready to change as the leaves do.

Since I am a full time student, funds are always limited. Even if I can perfectly picture myself in Chanel booties and that gorgeous sheer blouse from Marc Jacobs, it's not gonna happen. But with a plethora of shops and boutiques at my disposal (did you know I lived in Seattle? ha) I've already started on fulfilling my list of wonderful clothes.

If you just want the gist of what's been on my brain the last few weeks just know jewel-toned anything, a good camel leather jacket, wedges, sheer blouses, a crisp blazer, and scoop necks. I will of course always be rockin' denim whether on my legs or on my back (I guess I should say chambray) and chucks on my feeties. This fall is all about keepin' it casual and sophisticated, and when you're me: easy. Plus, when you stick with simple colorful basics free of any obnoxious print or fabric, you can keep them forever because there's so much you can do. I'm finding that out with all the awesome jewelry I've been finding, but that's for anther day...

Summer makeup essentials

It's 6:30 in the morning, and I don't believe I've been up (and functioning) this early in a looooong time. I have to go work at my internship earlier today so I had the boyfriend drop me off at starbucks to get my creative juices flowin'. I'm definitely newer to the blog scene so I figure, why not start with something I know a lot about? and voila! make up it is.

I've worked for Sephora for over two years now, so needless to say I know a thing or two about a thing or two. I've put together, with a lot of caffiene and a little sweat mind you, a collection of things (found at Sephora) that I have deemed worthy, or even essential, for this summer.

I don't know about your hometown, but Seattle has been hit hard with obnoxious, inglorious weather this year. We've only had a couple of weeks of decent sunshine, and when I mean a couple I am literally talking about two weeks- or less then. But either way, the days are getting to be those that I end up sweating in if I walk outside for more than five minutes and have to leave my front door open in hopes of any circulation. Ahoy! Seattle has finally jumped on the bandwagon of summer. In celebration of this much anticipated affair, Sephora has been blessed with pretty little things that will bring out the shine in you (and no, not the slick, oily, acne-prone shine).

Dr. Gross Alpha Beta Glow Pads: These little wipes exfoliate dead skin and leaves behind a little hint of golden glow- perfect for blurring out sunglass lines if you wear big ol' shades like myself.
Urban Decay Eyeshadow in "Half Baked": Everyone needs a good gold eyeshadow. This one is especially gilded to suit a yellower skin tone and works wonderfully as a highlighter.
Stila Custom Color Blush in Coral: Finally, Stila came out with a coral to accompany the garish hot pink that no one can wear. This amazing blush looks different on everyone and is exceptionally orangey-coral on deeper skintones. And it lasts all day! And in the heat! Rejoice!
Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in Honey: Fresh does it again and this time with a really pretty nude color. Need I say more?
Super+ Coconut Quench Hydrating Mist: Perricone's little sister (natural) line Super+ offers the perricone punch without knocking out your wallet. This mist smells heavenly tropical and is good for face, body and hair.
Smashbox Hydrating Primer: Smashbox has just repackaged (thank god) and launched a new primer that doesn't feel heavy or dimethicone-y but still gives you baby soft and hydrated skin. Skip the foundation, stick with this bad boy and let your natural skin glow.
Make Up Forever Cream Blush: This cream blush comes in a dozen colors. Mine is a bright coral (shocker) and is an awesome blusher and lip tint in one. A little (and I mean tiny) amount is all you need which means one tube will last you your whole life.
Ren Micro Polish Cleanser: A new addition to Ren's amazing one-of-a-kind glycolactic peel mask. My roommate (and fellow sephoralite) and I are obsessed with this gentle scrub. It smells like oranges and leaves our faces glowing like we've been scrubbing with magic.
Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer: I'm not a huge fan of foundation primer (kill me, I know) but this is one I'll use on anyone and even myself. It's super light and thin and makes your skin light up a bit (I'm sensing a pattern...) but it also makes your foundation waterproof!
Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer: The best tinted moisturizer, hands down. And SPF 20. Done and done.
Urban Decay Canonball Mascara: One of two of Urban's new mascaras. This little guy has tiny fibers to give you sky high length and a super clean clump-free fan of not-as-crunchy-as-those-other-waterproofed-lashes lashes. Plus, it is truly waterproof.
Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Eyeliner: Crisp and clean. This eyeliner is easy to use and gives you a rich black line every time- no need to go over and over and over again as if you're rubbing a hole in your eyelids. It's the best thing I've used for a cat eye, whether I'm feeling like Amy Winehouse (rip) or a little baby newborn kitten. I've been using my roommate's for the last few days (she's the best, obvi) and I'm addicted. Plus if black ain't your thing it comes in other super-pigmented colors.

So there you are. Summer in a makeup kit. Now go slab on some sunscreen and enjoy the rest of the summer! And don't forget to glow...

This calls for a (short & sweet) introduction.

I am a currently a fine arts major at the University of Washington and am fortunate enough to work in the field(s) of fashion and makeup.

This blog will be a collection of reviews, rants, raves and craves that I deem fit enough to share with the public (and nothing is excluded!).

I hope you enjoy & stay awhile...
